Diabetes prevalence model for local authorities and CCGs

Estimates of total (diagnosed and undiagnosed) diabetes prevalence for people aged 16 years and older in England.

The 2016 model replaces the diabetes prevalence models published in 2010 and 2012. There are differences between the 2016 PHE diabetes prevalence model and the previous models. The 2016 model methodology is different and uses more up-to-date data sources and population estimates. The previous model published in 2012 under-estimated undiagnosed diabetes so that the overall prevalence estimates were probably low.

The 2016 PHE model has been independently assured through clinical and academic review prior to publication.
