Performance Tracking
Background to performance tracking
In December 2004 a formal pledge on joint action to improve health and reduce
health inequalities was made by North and East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire
Strategic Health Authority, West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority and South
Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority, the Department of Health – Regional
Public Health Group (RPHG), Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber,
Yorkshire Forward and the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly. It focuses on five
areas:
- Working through the Regional Economic Strategy
- Implementing the Regional Strategic Framework
- Ensuring robust resilience planning
- Working towards common approaches to assessing performance
- Providing effective and robust leadership on health issues
In order to support the development of joint performance tracking, Yorkshire
and Humber Public Health Observatory (YHPHO) agreed to produce a series of briefings
and reports focusing on some of the key health issues in Yorkshire and the Humber.
The five priority issues initially identified were:
- tobacco control
- sexual health
- obesity
- fuel poverty
- alcohol
The briefings are intended to support a series of ‘catalyst’ events
aimed at bringing together key stakeholders from within the region to share
best practice and identify practical actions across the key themes identified.
At present three briefings have been produced:
