Leadership for Health Improvement Programme
The Leadership for Health Improvement Programme is a leadership development programme aimed at a multiagency cohort of around 60 senior public health improvement leaders from a broad range of organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber and County Durham and Tees Valley. This initial programme is based on a model created by the NHS Modernisation Agency; the Leading Modernisation Programme, and has been funded as a national pilot initiative by the Department of Health. The Programme will run from November 2005 to February 2007 with an external evaluation by Northumbria University.
As we progress through the one-year programme, we will attempt to capture the structure, processes and learning from the Leadership for Health Improvement Programme. The purpose of doing so is both as a record for those participating in the programme, and as a reference and signpost to help others looking to build local capability for leadership of health improvement efforts.
This material gives a firm base from which you can share and further develop local health improvement initiatives, including a database of local champions and case studies of good practice.
The success of this programme will be built on the enthusiasm, energy, passion and commitment brought to it by the Advisory Faculty, external speakers and the participants themselves. We will, wherever possible open events to the wider community of public health improvement leaders from a range of health and partner organisations.
We know of no other development programme worldwide that has pulled together such a foundational evidence base, which allows such broad space for innovation or which seeks such a multifaceted developmental outcome for its participants. This is a groundbreaking programme, which has the potential for enormous impact on the personal development of individuals and public health improvement systems locally.
