A Critique of the Application of Cost-Effectiveness Analysis to Public Health
This study was commissioned by the Wanless team at HM Treasury and delivered by York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) to inform work undertaken by Derek Wanless on how to implement cost-effective approaches to improving population health, consistent with the 'fully engaged' scenario outlined in the first Wanless report. The study reviews what evidence is available on how to invest most cost-effectively in public health measures and draws out any generic lessons from this to improve overall population health in England most efficiently.
