Introduction: what a publication scheme is and why it has
been developed
One of the aims of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is that public authorities
should be clear and proactive about the information they will make public.
To do this we have produced a publication scheme, setting out:
- The classes of information which we publish or intend to publish;
- The manner in which the information will be published; and
- Whether the information is available free of charge or on payment.
This Publication scheme is a complete guide to the information routinely
published by YHPHO. It is a description of the information about us, which
we make publicly available. We will review the scheme at regular intervals
and monitor how it is operating. It is important that this Scheme meets
your needs and it has been designed to enable you to find information easily.
The Freedom of Information Act does not change the right of patients to
protection of their patient confidentiality in accordance with Article 8
of the Human Rights Convention, the Data Protection Act and their rights
at common law. Maintaining the legal right to patient confidentiality continues
to be an important commitment on our part. To help with this, we have appointed
a Caldicott Guardian who is responsible for ensuring the protection of patient
confidentiality throughout YHPHO in accordance with your legal rights. At
YHPHO, the Caldicott Guardian is:
