Brian was Director of the Yorkshire & Humber Public Health Observatory, based at the University of York, and was Chair of the UK & Ireland Association of PHOs (APHO) from 2006-11. He is currently the National Transition Director for PHOs and is also Director of the Yorkshire & Humber Quality Observatory and Co-Director of the Northern & Yorkshire Cancer Registry and Information Service.
Brian is a health economist by background, previously holding posts as Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Economics, University of York, and Professor of Health Economics in the University of Leeds. He was a member of the National Public Health Career Scientist Award Panel for five years and was a PCT non-executive director for four years. He is a member of the Department of Health’s Scientific Reference Group on Health Inequalities, and was a member of NICE’s Public Health Interventions Advisory Committee between 2005-08. He is also a member of the Programme Advisory Board of the NIHR Public Health Research Programme. Brian was admitted to the UK Public Health Register in February 2007.

A health intelligence specialist by background, Jake has over 15 years experience working in information analysis and management roles in a range of settings including acute and community trusts, health authorities and PCTs. Jake's main role in the PHO is to lead the delivery of the PHO's core work programme. This includes support to the delivery of Healthy Ambitions the region's clinically led vision for health and healthcare in Yorkshire and Humber, work on health inequalities, Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, and Local Area Agreements, and the development of YHPHO's role as a regional insight hub, supporting social marketing activity across Yorkshire and the Humber. Jake is also leading the development of our Regional Health Intelligence Training Programme, part of the HIYAH workstream. |

Regionally the focus has been on prioritisation and training in health economic principles and their application, particularly in relation to the QIPP agenda. Sue also leads the Altogether Better Learning Network which aims to share intelligence, experience and learning on well-being. Sue is a trained health economist and an experienced senior manager with a passion for driving evidence based transformational change. Sue was admitted to the UK Public Health Register in 2010. |

He has been working in Wakefield District for the last fifteen years, initially in the Hospital Trust with an emphasis on Clinical Information Systems. His career has included overwintering in Antarctica as a base doctor and producing strategic information reports for the European Space Agency and the national review of Burn Care services. He has been working two days a week at the PHO since 2008 and has produced reports on Primary Care Information and Programme Budgeting. He is currently involved in a range of HIYAH projects including the Cardiac Network Intelligent Commissioning Toolkit and the training programme. |
