About Us
The YHPHO (Yorkshire and Humber

created to be coterminous with the Government Office for Yorkshire
& The Humber (GOYH) region. The region serves a population of
some 5.1 million people. It contains one Strategic Health Authorities, NHS Yorkshire and the Humber and 14 Primary Care Trusts, charged with the responsibility of improving the health
of local populations. Within the region, there are 22 Local Authorities,
comprising a mixture of district and county councils and metropolitan
boroughs.
Our role may be summarised as:

and public health information;
- providing analysis of health-related
data;
- providing advice in a range of areas
such as methods for health equity audit and health impact assessment;
- alerting to give early warning of
public health problems;
- supporting local bodies to ensure that appropriate action
is taken to reduce health inequalities.
The Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory is an NHS organisation
